I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I

Mayor Gamec menttoned.ithat one of Ramsey's concerns is it's eligibility for
grant funding, namely LAWCON grants. Those grants are designated for parks
developed within an urban area and Ramsey's Central Park, which will serve
the entire City, is located in a Rural area. Ramsey feels the way that
funding is set up is unfair to cities like Ramsey and the requirements of
that grant should be reviewed. Mayor Gamec noted that Ramsey doesn't fall
in the right category for most grants -- cities of our type just don't fit
in.

Councilmember Retmann brought up the subject of hazardous waste and landfills.
Councilmember Reimann stated that if the State is going to dictate where
these sites are to be located they should set up some strict regulations
regarding installation and safety precautions.

Ms. Nunn stated that her organization is not involved in hazardous waste
because Legislature has set up a Waste Management Board of which Bob Dunn
is Chairman.

Councilmember Schlueter stated that she serves on the Processing Area Task
Force and they want some assurances that dollars will be provided to cover
the costs of any problems created, other than the city picking up those
costs. Councilmember Schlueter stated PATF gets the feeling that the Waste
Management Board is more concerned with mitigation and compensation for
those cities that are sited for landfill disposal rather than thosesited
for processing. Ramsey is concerned as to what Metro Council can do once
the issue gets to Legislature to see that we get our mitigation and
compensation.

Ms. Nunn replied that when the report comes out and if it doesn't address
all of the concerns, contact your State Legislator and Senator and inform
them that you don't thing the report is adequate.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by seconded by Councitmember
Van Wagner to approve the agenda with the following additions:

Council New Business - Case #10 - Accepting and Awarding Price Quotes
For Backstop Fences at Ramsey's Central Park

Mayor/Council Input - Cable T.V.; Councilmember Van Wagner

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann,
Schlueter and Van Wagner. Voting No: None.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

Mai, or Gamec adjourned the regular COuncil meeting at 7:32 in order to
conduct the following Board of Adjustment Bubl~c Hearing and Board of
Adjustment:

1. Regarding Mr. Dave Brinker's request for a variance.

Mayor Gamec called the regular Council meeting back to order at 7:35 p.m.

C/September 27, 1983
