Councilmember Reimann inquired if spending $5000 on an Analysis & Need
Report the right approach for Ramsey to take at this time -- after spending
$$000 for a report the next logical step would be to go to a computer system.

Mr. Schnelle replied that now ts the ideal time, tf we don't do it now tt will
not happen for another $-10 years and the City will be hiring the wrong way
during that period of time. Xt will keep our operational costs down ef we
go to a computer system in the City's early stages.

Councilmember Sorteberg inquired as to how much it will cost to train personnel
to the computer system.

City Accountant Moen stated that the vendor will provide training as a part of
the total package, transferring City records to the computer will be accomplished
during normal working hours and the cost of the system is approximately $121,000.

Councilmember Van Wagner stated that the system could be paid for with a
Certificate of Indebtedness.

Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Mayor Gamec to adopt
Resolution #83-169 accepting the price quote on the preparation of analysis
and need, preparation of bid proposal and review of bid proposals received
from bidders on computer software and hardware.
