Library Focus: Free Summer
Reading Program BGUA /ffl Y
Summer is coming and so is "Bookawocky," Anoka County Library's sum-
mer reading experience and celebration. This free program, June 1 through Au-
gust 15, gives opportunities for children and teens to read, explore, and connect
at the library! Studies reveal youth learning losses without summer educational
activities. Those involved in experiences like Bookawocky, however, can begin
the school year ready to learn.
Bookawocky participants explore many fun and interesting things related to
reading and learning, from art and science activities to doing pictures and short
reviews about books they read or listen to. They can then enter their reviews
and pictures into weekly drawings, for chances to win books and other prizes.
They may also post reviews to bookawocky.com for prizes.
Bookawocky will again offer free performances at branch libraries and
nearby locations. Rum River Library performances, Thursdays at 1:30 pm and
3:00 pm, will be: 6/ 18, The Big Fun Show; 6/25, Kenny Ahern comedy show;
7/09, Wendy's Wiggle, Jiggle, and Jam; and 7/16, Heebie Jeebies comedy music
show. Arrive early to line up for tickets as seating is limited. For more informa-
tion, visit Rum River Library, 4201 6th Ave., Anoka, 763- 576 -4695, or anoka-
countylibraryorg.
Heart Safe - Ramsey Offers
Free CPR & AED Training
Sessions nSi 1 AI Ik flkN
iL
The Heart Safe - Ramsey program has set a goal of training 1,400 citizens,
5% of Ramsey's population, in bystander CPR and proper AED use by July 1,
2015. Every citizen that is trained counts towards Ramsey's mission of becom-
ing a Heart Safe Community. The program has trained nearly 300 people to
date, but we need your help to reach that goal!
If you have been trained in CPR since September 2014, your name can be
added to the City's total. Please send your name and the type of training you
received to savedbycpr @hotmail.com, or by mail to: City of Ramsey, Attn:
Nichole Wenberg, 7550 Sunwood Drive. NW, Ramsey, MN 55303.
If you have not yet been trained, the City invites you to join in a Bystander
CPR and AED Training Session, hosted by the Heart Safe - Ramsey program on
the first Monday of every month from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. in the Alexander Ramsey
Room at the Ramsey Municipal Center. These monthly training sessions are
free to all Ramsey residents and businesses! No registration is needed and all
ages are welcome.
For more information, visit the City's website at www.cityoframsey.com /
heartsafe or contact Ramsey Heart Safe Champion, Tim Hoffman at 763 -438-
2416, savedbycpr @hotmail.com.
Outdoor
Warning
Sirens
Warning sirens are the most
effective method of warning the
population at large about danger-
ous conditions. However, one
common misconception about
warning sirens is that they will
alert those indoors to dangerous
conditions outside. While some
people may live close enough to
hear the sirens indoors, this is not
the intended purpose. Sirens are
designed to advise people who are
outside that a hazardous condition
exists or is approaching. A battery
operated radio or TV is the best
way to stay advised of possible dan-
gerous conditions when indoors.
For more information on the City
of Ramsey's warning sirens, please
contact the Ramsey Police Depart-
ment at 763- 427 -6812.
armers'
,// Market in
The COR
Starting in July
Every Thursday
3:00 - 7:00 pm
Into October at
The Draw next to the
amphitheater.
Watch the City of
Ramsey Website
for more details
www.cityoframsey.com
r
1 ■ !'I i
'h , ■
