r <br />port <br />evelo p ment a <br />Your Source for Development News in Ramsey <br />New Armstrong Interchange Construction to Begin in May <br />Construction of the US. Highway 10/ Armstrong <br />Boulevard (County Road 83) Interchange project in the <br />City of Ramsey made significant progress in 2014 and <br />2015. The Armstrong Interchange Project is now fully <br />funded, completely designed and ready for construction. <br />This project is set to begin construction in May 2015, to <br />be substantially completed by winter, and fully completed <br />by summer 2016. <br />The project scope includes construction of a full - <br />access, grade- separated, interchange. This interchange will <br />also include grade- separation from the nearby Burlington <br />Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train tracks, widening of Arm- <br />strong Boulevard, upgraded access to local businesses, new <br />connectivity to hundreds of acres of developable land, and <br />multimodal alternatives for pedestrians and bicyclists. <br />The existing at -grade Armstrong Boulevard intersec- <br />tion will be closed during construction of the new inter- <br />change. Ramsey Boulevard, located just east of Armstrong <br />Boulevard, will serve as the primary detour route for <br />destinations on the north side of US. Highway 10. For <br />destinations located on the south side of US. Highway <br />10, the primary access points during construction will be <br />Traprock Street and Lama Street. <br />The new Armstrong Interchange is scheduled for sub- <br />stantial completion by fall 2015. This will result in open <br />access to the new Armstrong Interchange and elimination <br />of major detour routes by winter. <br />All local businesses will remain open during construc- <br />tion of the Armstrong Interchange. The Ramsey City <br />Council has ordered additional signage be utilized dur- <br />ing construction to help promote local businesses; and <br />the Ramsey City Council strongly encourages residents <br />to continue patronizing these businesses during con- <br />struction. <br />Today, <br />existing at -grade <br />intersections <br />located along <br />US. Highway 10 <br />in Ramsey have <br />safety and mobil- <br />ity concerns for <br />commuters and <br />residents alike. <br />A substantial <br />portion of US. <br />Highway 10 in <br />Ramsey runs <br />parallel to a set <br />of BNSF train <br />tracks. In the event a train passes through the City of <br />Ramsey during an emergency, public safety personnel <br />are physically blocked from US. Highway 10. Over the <br />past decade, increased traffic along both U.S. Highway <br />10 and the BNSF train tracks have made safety and mo- <br />bility concerns a priority for elected officials. Improve- <br />ments to the intersection of Armstrong Boulevard/ US. <br />Highway 10 has been targeted as a major first step in <br />addressing US.
