Acting Mayor LeTourneau stated the discussion is how to mitigate access and safety issues for <br />45 homes, but this is not a gateway development that opens to additional neighborhoods. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill stated there is potential for future connections but it <br />would involve additional right -of -way access. He stated staff will raise that conversation with <br />Anoka County. <br />Acting Mayor LeTourneau indicated the consensus of the Council is to address the need for a <br />larger corridor study with Anoka County and to move forward under premise it will be a closed <br />access. <br />Mayor Strommen assumed chairing the remainder of the Work Session. <br />2.03: Review Topics for Joint Meeting with Anoka City Council and Staff <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the staff report and stated the purpose of this case is to <br />determine mutual interest agenda items for the April 13, 2015, joint meeting with the City of <br />Anoka Council and staff. He presented possible topics of Highway 10 projects, King's <br />Island/Mississippi River Trail; Development Updates; and, Lower Rum River Watershed <br />Management Organization (LRRWMO) issues. <br />Councilmember Kuzma stated with regard to the LRRWMO, a discussion could relate to <br />Anoka's plans for the Rum River dam. <br />The consensus of the Council was to direct staff to include the following items on the April 13, <br />2015, joint meeting agenda: Highway 10 projects, King's Island/Mississippi River Trail; <br />Development Updates; and, the Anoka's plans for the Rum River dam. <br />2.04: Review Community and Business Event Participation <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the staff report and stated the purpose of this case is to <br />review the community and business events in which the Council and staff may wish to <br />participate. It was noted the Discretionary Expenditures Policy requires the City Administrator <br />to annually review upcoming events with the Council. In addition, this Policy states the Council <br />will annually establish a maximum amount for community and business - relation expenses. <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed a list of events anticipated for 2015 as follows: Anoka <br />County Chamber Gala, Anoka/Ramsey Rotary Events, Achieve Services, Inc. Annual Dinner, <br />Boy Scout Breakfast, Alexandra House Gala, Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, and Youth First <br />Community of Promise Events. Golf events include: Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce, <br />Anoka/Ramsey Rotary, Anoka Technical College, North Metro Chamber Golf Event, Mercy and <br />Unity Hospitals, Ramsey Lions, North Metro Mayors' Association, Golfing for Groceries — <br />Village Bank, and Youth First — Community of Promise. <br />City Council Work Session / February 24, 2015 <br />Page 8of10 <br />
