CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, February 10, <br />2004, at the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember Al Pearson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Property / Casualty / Workers Compensation Insurance Update <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained that each year, the City renews its insurance <br />policies for property/casualty and workers compensation coverage through the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. During the most recent renewal process, T.C. Field solicited <br />premium rates based on increased deductibles for property/casualty claims. Based upon the <br />premiums for increased deductible options, City and T.C. Field staff do not recommend electing <br />a higher deductible option at this time. <br /> <br />Mark Lenz, T.C. Field and the City's agent of record, updated the Council regarding current <br />policy renewal, the City's recent claims experience, rates and trends in insurance. He explained <br />the City of Ramsey does not have a lot of insurance exposure. He has typically recommended <br />cities put dividends into a sinking fund or an insurance escrow fund to pay claims or get to a <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/February 10, 2004 <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
