the acquisition of the properties stated that the properties must be cleared of existing blight <br />within one year of receipt of the grant. Staff has completed the pre-demolition survey for the <br />Morrell building and is ready to take bids for the demolition and clean up of both the Chies and <br />Mon:ell parcels. They have made inquiries available to sell one acre parcels and feel it would be <br />imperative to have the parcels available for development this spring. The EDA made a <br />recommendation to the City Council to continue proceeding with the CDBG process and <br />commence demolition, blight removal, and site preparation for both the Chies and Morrell <br />properties. Staff is requesting this authorization from the Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to direct staff to <br />proceed with the CDBG process and commence demolition, blight removal, and site preparation <br />for both the Chies and Morrell properties. <br /> <br />Motion carried. State of the Cities <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec reported he attended the State of the Cities today at the Andover Courtyard with <br />City Administrator Norman and Associate Planner Wald <br /> <br />2) North Star Rally <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced there will be a North Star Rally held on February 12th at 7:00 p.m. at <br />Anoka Hennepin Technical College. <br /> <br />STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />1) Council Worksessions <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman inquired if the Council would like to schedule a worksession at 7:00 <br />p.m. on February 17th following the Public Works Meeting. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to schedule a worksession on February 17th at 7:00 p.m. <br />following the Public Works Meeting. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman explained the regular worksession for the first Tuesday in March <br />falls on the night of precinct caucuses and must be rescheduled. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to reschedule the first worksession in March for Monday, <br />March 1 ~. <br /> <br />City Council/February 10, 2004 <br /> Page 17 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
