Char%er Commission <br />February 9, 1984 <br />Attachment I <br /> <br />February 9, 1984 <br /> <br />Mr. Gary Heitman <br />Chairman <br />Ramsey Charter Commission <br />16490 Uranium Street NW <br />Ramsey, MN 55303 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Heitman: <br /> <br />I have just learned that the Ramsey' Charter Commission will be, conducting <br />a public hearing on February 15, 1984 to inform the people of the contents of <br />the finalized charter. I am astounded that so little time is being made available <br />to the citizens in regards to such an important issue. <br /> <br />In checking, I found that the first notice of the public hearing will appear in <br />the February 11th issue of the Anoka County Union. This does not allow any <br />time for review of this document. I urge you to cancel the public hearing and <br />to set another hearing date giving the people of Ramsey at least 45 days to <br />educate themselves on the document that has been prepared by this Commission. <br /> <br />I have always prided myself in taking part in important issues that happen .in <br />the governmental jurisdictions in which I reside. However, I will not be able <br />to participate in this public hearing because I will be out of town. If adequate <br />notice had been given, I could have scheduled this trip another time. <br /> <br />I reiterate, please reschedule this public meeting date and give the people 45 <br />days notice. Make information available so that they have ample time to review <br />it and react to it. I know you have always stated that you want citizen <br />participation. If you conduct this public hearing on February 15, 1984, you <br />will be denying the citizens of Ramsey the participation they deserve. <br /> <br />I would like to have this letter included as part of the Charter Commission <br />meeting minutes for your meetings of February 9th and 15th, 1984. <br /> <br />Thank you for your consideration. <br /> <br />Arnold Cox <br /> <br /> <br />
