Case #1

CITY OF RAMSEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
HALL OF FAME SELECTION PROCESS
By: James Gromberg, Project Manager

Background:

At the last EDC meeting, we chose the 1992 inductee into the Hall of Fame. During this induction
selection, a question arose as to what guidelines should be used on future choices. I have listed
some suggestions as to the criteria to be used in the furore:

1)
2)

3)

Length of residence
Length of service to the community. (This should include all types of involvement
including City involvement, team sponsoring for youth leagues, Business
Appreciation Day and Business Expo involvement. Involvement in the community
should not be limited to that of financial gain.)
Business integrity. (The business and owner should not have been in violation of
any City ordinances and State statutes casting the City in a bad light.)

Based upon these guidelines, we may also need to place a time requirement for this involvement
(five to ten years) or lack of adversarial action by the City (five to ten years).

Recommendation:

Based upon discussion, guidelines for future inductees to the Hall of Fame should be set.

Commission Action:

Motion to approve guidelines, as amended, for Hall of Fame inductees.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Project Manager

EDC: 10/13/93
