TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUND

County Road #116 Alternative
Transportation Corridor

PRO3ECT DESCRIPTION

The 2.6 mile, disability sensitive, alternative transportation project will be the final and
critical link between the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey's 26 miles of urban pedestrian and
bicycle facilities. This enhancement project will construct and provide lighting for a
bikeway/walkway, acquire and preserve shoreland of Grass Lake for the facility, provide
eight bicycle storage lockers (16 bike capacity, 5 locations) and landscape the view shed of
Highway #I 16 in the project area.

Completion of this alternative transportation facility will result in a more "livable"
community.

Each of the project's components will provide visible enhancements to each sector of the
benefiting communities.

The bikeway/walkway will aid in the areas economic competitiveness by reducing the cost
of local travel. Environmental quality will be enhanced and sustained by the reduction of
vehicular traffic and the exposure to alternatives to conventional transportational growth.
Energy efficiency will occur from encouraging reduction of vehicular traffic and resultant
maintenance demands and further promotion of the qualities of intermodal surface
transportation.
