CASE #

SUPPLEMENTAL SOLID WASTE ABATEMENT GRANT
By: James Gromberg, Project Manager

Background:

On May 10, 1993, the City of Ramsey received a check from Anoka County as a bonus for
exceeding the City's 1992 recycling goal. This bonus award, in the amount of $8,422.92,
must be used for solid waste recycling, problem material management, or yard waste
programs. Some possible project suggestions for these additional funds would be:

Completion of the brush chipping at Central Park and the removal of the
unchippable material to the Anoka County wood processing site at $5.50 per cubic
yard. Contracting out for this chipping would not exceed $2,000.

2. Apply funds to the City cost incurred for the 1993 Ramsey Clean-up Day.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends that the bonus award be designated as follows: Not-to-exceed $2,000
for outside contracting for brush chipping at Central Park and the remaining balance for the
1993 Clean-up Day costs.

Finance Committee Action:

Motion to recommend that City Council designate the bonus award as follows: an amount
not-to-exceed $2,000 for outside contracting for brush chipping at Central Park and the
remaining balance for the 1993 Clean-up Day costs.

Reviewed by:

Project Manager
Finance Officer
City Administrator

FC: 05/25/93

./7
