TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUND <br /> <br />County Road #116 Alternative <br />Transportation Corridor <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The 2.6 mile, disability sensitive, alternative u'ansportation project will be the final and critical Link <br />between the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey's 26 miles of urban pedestrian and bicycle facilities. <br />This enhancement project will construct and provide lighting for a bikeway/walkway, acquire and <br />preserve shoreland of Grass Lake for the facility, provide eight bicycle storage lockers (16 bike <br />capacity, 5 locations) and landscape the view shed of Highway #116 in the project area. <br /> <br />Completion of this alternative transportation facility will result in a more "livable" community. <br /> <br />Each of the project's components will provide visible enhancements to each sector of the benefiting <br />communities. <br /> <br />The bikeway/walkway will aid in the areas economic competitiveness by reducing the cost of local <br />travel. Environmental quality will be enhanced and sustained by the reduction of vehicular traffic <br />and the exposure to alternatives to conventional transportational growth. Energy efficiency Will <br />occur by encouraging the reduction of vehicular traffic and resultant maintenance demands and <br />further promotion of the qualifies of intermodal surface transportation. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
