July 29, 1993

Jill E. Johns
6043 - 174th Avenue NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
753-6585

Kay McAIoney
Personnel Coordinator
Ramsey Municpal Center
15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W,
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Ms. McAIcney:

I am writing in response to your article in the Ramsey Resident
newsletter. I would like to add my name as a candidate to fill the vacancy
on the Park and Recreation Commission.

To be completely honest, I have no experiencei'n municipal affairs. What
I do have is a willingness to give my time and the ability to communicate
my views concisely. I would be bringing to the Commission a new-
resident's perspective.

The driving force behind my seeking an appointment to the Commission is
my family. I'm sure that probably sounds contrived, but my husband and I
moved to Ramsey 13 montl~s ago with our children (ages 3 and 1), and i
want them to have all the opportunities to enjoy a Parks and Recreational
system that meets the needs of our growing community.

Although I don't have hands on experience in government affairs, I do
understand that no Commission or Council is an isolated entity. All
government programs must operate within ~t budget and with other
restraints that force us to make community choices -- decisions for the
good of all. I do not plan to be a neighborhood advocate, although I
would bring a neighborhood perspective.
