Councilmember Beyer stated she thought it was agreed upon that the standby pay,
additional holidays and the boots were not a "big deal".

Councilmember Peterson stated the dollar amounts were not available then.

Police Chief Auspos stated that initially it was not a big deal, but after looking at the cost
factor, he stated he agrees with Mr. Sehroeder. With regard to holidays, he stated that
most cities are getting nine to ten holidays paid at time and a half, we are getting seven.

Mr. Schroeder inquired how important stretching out the pay schedule is to the Committee.

Councilmember Peterson stated that if it is put back to five, giVe them one holiday and if
they'd settle for it, he'd be in favor of that.

Councilmember Beyer stated it was unfair to give them this new pay proposal tonight.

Chief Auspos stated that he and Mr. Schroeder were discussing this pay plan and he saw
some merit to the plan.

Councilmember Hardin, with regard to the insurance issue, suggested maybe they'd be
interested in 100% for single coverage and use the left over dollars to distribute to the
officers who need family coverage.

Chief Auspos stated that could cause a feeling of "splitting the unity".

Councilmember Hardin asked that the suggestion be placed on the table for discussion. He
suggested a one year contract, include boots, cover their insurance with the option he just
mentioned, add a holiday, and leave the standby pay as is.

Open portion 6:38 p.m.

The entire meeting adjourned at 6:49 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

.~/Recording Secretary

~~~ity Admim'stmtor
Negotiating Committee/Closed Portion/March 22, 1993
Page 2 of 2
