Carlberg,
City Planner

Comprehensive Traffic An. alysis of TH 10

Dear Mr. Carlberg:

In response to your letter dated Februar,/3,' 1993, I would like to indicate that
Anoka County is interested in resolving issues related to traffic and the movement
of its residents through the re,on. In the above referenced letter, you indicate that
the Metropolitan Council Stab has taken the position that'a Comprehensive Traffic
Analysis of TH 10 should be prepared. 'Anoka County has previously taken the .
position that TH 10 is a Minnesota Department of Transportation responsibility and
the Minnesota Department of Transportation has expended some funds to insure
that TH 10 can be expanded to a 6-lane-facility in the future. Since TH 10 is a state
facility, it is Amoka Counts?s position that they should be the lead agency on any
Comprehensive Traffic Analysis of TH 10 and the TH 10 corridor. Met Council.
Staff has long maintained that other options to expanding TH 10 should be
investigated. We on the other hand, feel that Mn/DOT and the Metropolitan .
Counctl need to reco~m2ize that TH t0, while not only the north-south route in'the
region, is intended to be and should be the principle traffic carrier and for that
reason we feel that Mn/DOT should be a vital part and the lead agency'in.
completing any study of the corridor.

If you have a..ny questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
sincerely,

Jon G.
