1993 WAGES AND BENEFITS FOR LELS BARGAINING
BY: Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator

CASE # 4
UNIT

Background:

We have received notice that the LELS Bargaining Unit would like to begin negotiations for 1993.
Attached is more background material on the proposal that was discussed during the closed City
Council meeting on December 22, 1992.

The first exhibit shows that if we assume a 2.25% wage increase (as a plug number based on the
1993 AFSCME proposal) in 1993, 1994 and 1995 we will actually incur package wage increases
of 4.59%, 3.50% and 3.65% in respective years. This is due to step increases programmed to
occur in the existing contract.

The next exhibit shows: 1) how each officer is currently paid relative to market and class and
who will receive step increases in 1993, 1994, and 1995 under the existing contract.

2)

The next exhibit shows 1992 contractual wage steps and their projected increases in future years
under the 2.25% assumption.

The above exhibit is followed by exhibits using the 3.7% table for 1993, 1994 and 1995.

Recommendation:
Based on discussion.

Committee Action:
Based on discussion.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
Personnel Coordinator

Also Distributed To:
Police Chief

SCC: 1/6/93
