Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #93.02- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CAPITAL OUTLAY PURCHASE OF THREE MOBIL DATA TERMINAL (MDT) UNITS WHEREAS, at the Budget Committee meeting of January 26, 1993, Staff recommended the City of Ramsey purchase three (3) Mobil Data Terminals at the price of $3,980.00 each; and WHEREAS, this purchase was not funded in the City's 1993 Budget; and WHEREAS, this purchase would be in addition to the one (1) Mobil Data Terminal the City will be receiving this summer from Anoka County, Anoka Count), Joint Law Enforcement Council, at no capital cost to the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, Staff noted the MDTs will increase officer efficiency due to faster response time on information requests and, due to the expiration of the Hennepin County Contract, a thirty- three percent price increase for units ordered after March 6, 1993; and WHEREAS, the County of Anoka can place an order against the Hennepin County Contract and the City of Ramsey, by entering into a Joint Powers Agreement with the County of Anoka for the purpose of purchasing Mobile Data Terminals, can purchase at this contract price; and WHEREAS, the Budget Committee is in agreement with this purchase and recommends the City Council authorize purchase of three (3) Mobile Data Terminals for a capital outlay amount of $11,940.00 plus Minnesota sales tax in the amount of $776.10 for a total purchase price of $12,716.10 with funding provided by the City's Landfill Expendable Trust Fund - interest earnings; and WHEREAS, the Budget Committee further recommends the 1993 State connection charge at $30.00 per unit, per month, be funded from the Police Department's General Fund operating budget. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the City Administrator to sign a Joint Powers Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, with the County of Anoka for the purpose of purchasing three (3) Mobil Data Terminals. 2) That the Ramsey City Council directs the funding for this purchase in the amount of $12,716.10 be provided by interest earnings from the City's Landfill Expendable Trust Fund and other costs incurred be funded from the Police Department's General Fund operating budget. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: 4/7
