Councilmember <br /> <br />introduced thc following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION ff93-04- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CAPITAL PURCHASE OF ONE RADAR UNIT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at the Council's Finance Committee meeting of February 23, 1993, Staff presented a <br />request for the purchase of one MPH Industries brand BEE 36KA band unit to replace two of the Police <br />Department's oldest radar units; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the BEE 36KA unit is much smaller than any the City currently has, and this unit permits <br />mounting thc antenna above the rear view mirror rather than mounting on the dash as with our other units; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this purchase is consistent with federal regulations effective in 1994 that require dual air <br />bags in new automobiles, including new police squads, as dash mounted units could jeopardize the deployment <br />or effectiveness of these bags; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, staff also recommends trading in or reselling the two older units identified within the <br />City's fixed assets as numbers 194 and 204: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sum of $2,405.00 is available in the City's Equipment Replacement Fund to purchase <br />the new unit; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this sum, plus trade-in value or resale of asset numbers 194 and 204, will fully fund the <br />new purchase price of just under $2,600.00; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Finance Committee unanimously approved this recommendation and hereby <br />recommends the Ramsey City Council authorize the purchase and funding sources as detailed within this <br />resolution. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the capital purchase of one MPH Industries brand BEE <br />36KA band radar unit for a sum not to exceed $2,600.00. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the transfer of funds from the City's Equipment <br />Replacement Fund to the General Fund in the amount of $2,405.00 <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby directs the Finance Officer to credit the City's General Fund for <br />proceeds received from the trade-in or resale of City asset numbers 194 and 204. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby amends the City's 1993 General Fund Budget to reflect the <br />transactions approved above. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 13th day <br />of April, 1993. <br /> <br />5'7 <br /> <br /> <br />
