TRANSPORTATION ENtlANCEMENT FUND APPLICATION
By: Ryan Schroeder, City Administralor

Council will recall Ihat in 1992, the Cities of Ramsey and Anoka submitted an application
for funding to the State of Minnesota for construction of a trail system referred to as the
County Road #116 Ahernative Transportation Corridor. At that tin-m, we ranked in the top
half of all applications received but were well below the point of receiving funding for the
application. This request for funding was rcsubmined for 1993 pursuant to the attached.
This go-round, the funding poi is somewhat differem and the rules have changed slightly.
Therefore, this resubminal of tile 1992 application has minor changes throughout the
application but is subst:mtially that which was submitted in 1992.

As was the case last year, the Stme expects ~o receive applications well beyond their ability
to provide funding. As was the case with the Shoreland Grant Agreement, if we do receive
a positive review of this application, it will be resubmined to the Council's of Ramsey and
Anoka for consideration. You will note that the gr:mt application is for a project with an
estimated wdue of $226,488. Our portion of lhat is currently estimated at approximately
$57,000, but this estimate would be refined if funding was provided. You will note by the
attached map that the portion of the trail corridor within Ramsey is ad.iacem to the River's
Bend Plaza and through the Wood Pond Hil}s subdivision and the property between Wood
Pond Hills and the Ramsey Terracc/Flimwood Hills Trail Corridor. Completion of the trail
componem within the Wood Pond Hills subdivision has been contemplated within that
development agreement. The portion south of Wood Pond Hil~s is effectively an extension
of the Wood Pond projects mtil corridor, h is expected that the River's Bend Plaza section
will occur as part of the County Road #116/Trunk Highway #47 upgrade scheduled for
1994.

Council Action:

By approval of the Consent Agenda, accept receipt of the transportation enhancemem fund
application.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator

CC: 04/27/93

Copies also distributed

Parks/Utilities Coordinator
Finance Officer

to:

/7
