CASE # 5 <br /> <br />RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR THE <br />1993 STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM <br /> By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On February 22, 1993, a public hearing was held on the 1993 Street Maintenance Progrmn. <br />The Council ordered preparation of plans and specifications on April 27, 1993, following a <br />sixty-day (60) comment period, and authorized bids on May 11, 1993. <br /> <br />This years' program includes nine (9) separate projects which include Improvement <br />Projects g93-01 through g93-09. Seven (7) of these projects will consist of a crack sealing <br />operation followed by sealcoafing. Two projects involve one inch (1") bituminous <br />overlays. The City's Public Works Deparanent will repair major defects on all of the <br />projects prior to the contract work being performed. <br /> <br />This year a single contract document has been prepared for the street program which has <br />been separated into three major work divisions: (A) crack sealing; (B) sealcoating; and <br />(C) bituminous overlay work. The contract documents specify that these divisions will be <br />awarded in a manner which results in the lowest overall cost to the City. Bids will be <br />opened at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 1993.
