intrrdueed the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION g93-07- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CAPITAL PURCHASE OF ONE SQUAD CAR, ALLOCATION OF MONEY TO SET UP INVESTIGATOR VEHICLE AND PURCHASE OF RADIO FOR ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES VEHICLE WHEREAS, at the Council's Finance Committee meeting of June 8, 1993, it was authorized m purchase a third replacement squad during 1993, with the intent to rotate the vehicle being replaced down to Administrative Services; and WHEREAS, the cost of this action was $21,493 to be taken from the $33,978 available from the replacement fund; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that we can get longer life out of the fleet if the current Investigator's car becomes part of the squad rotation with the remaining oldest squad being relegated to Investigator uses; and WHEREAS, this would result in that we would effectively have four new patrol cars, one older Investigator unit and two, rather than one, squads available for Administrative Services use with relatively low mileage; and WHEREAS, the additional result is that there will not be a request for purchase of Police vehicles in 1994 nor will there be a request for purchase of an Administrative Services vehicle in 1994; and WHEREAS, the above does have some additional equipment set-up but for purposes of the Police Department, the cost, including replacement fund allocation of the prior action and of this one, is about $23,500; and WHEREAS, Administrative Services will be installing a radio in one of the vehicles in that the resultant five-car fleet is one radio short; and WHEREAS, the result of the above is an actual cash savings of $9,945 from what is available within the Equipment Replacement Fund; and WHEREAS, the Finance Committee, at their June 22, 1993 meeting, approved this r~ommendation and hereby recommends that Ramsey City Council authorize the purchase and flmdkng sources as detailed within this resolution. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Equipment Replacement Fund contains the following funds: S-1 - $14,300, S-2 - $14,288, #701 - $0, #702 - $12,182, #705 - $10,848 and #706 - $10,948 with a total of $33,978 available. 2) That the allocation from the June 8, 1993 Finance Committee meeting was $21,493 toward squad, replacement fund and set up. 3) That the allocation for the cost of setting up the Investigator's squad is at a not-to-exceed amount of $2,000. qq
