IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE TO FAIL TO STOP FOR A POLICE OFFICER WHEN DIRECTED TO DO SO. THERE ARE CERTAIN AREAS THAT SEEM TO ATTRACT PARTICULAR USE BY SNOWMOBILE OPERATORS AND OPERATION IN THOSE AREAS IS ILLEGAL. SOME OF THOSE AREAS ARE: Golf Courses: Raikoacis: Farm Fields: City Parks: These are private property and you must have permission to operate there unless they post signs saying it is open to snowmobiling. The trails that run along the railroad tracks are private property and Burlington Northern has informed us that they will prosecute an), persons found operating snowmobiles there. Many farmers plant winter oats in their fields or the fields are used for alfalfa (hay). Operation of snowmobiles can injure these crops so please stay off unless you have permission. We have no trails in City parks for snowmobile use so any operation in those parks is illegal. If any park trails or park roadways are opened for snowmobile use, they will be officially posted by the City. OPERATION OF SNOWMOBILES ON CITY STREETS, WHETHER IN THE MUSA OR IN THE REST OF THE CITY, IS, AS SET FORTH IN THE ORDINA?~CE, ONLY TO GET TO AND RETURN FROM OTHER AREAS IN WHICH IT IS LEGAL TO RIDE. THE STREETS ARE NOT TO BE USED AS RACETRACKS OR FOR REPETITIVE BACK AND FORTH DRIVING. PLEASE HELP KEEP THE RECREATION OF SNOWMOBILING ALIVE IN RAMSEY BY FOLLOWING THE RULES AND RESPECTING THE RIGHTS AND PROPERTY OF OTHERS. THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN PRESENTED AS A CLARIFICATION OF THE CITY ORDINANCE. IT IS NOT THE ENTIRE ORDINANCE NOR DOES IT DEAL TO ANY DEPTH WITH STATE STATUTES. AS AN OWNER OR OPERATOR OF A SNOWMOBILE, YOU SHOULD OBTAIN A COPY OF THE ORDINANCE FROM CITY HALL AND, AS LONG AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE, OBTAIN A COPY OF A DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES BOOKLET AT THE RAMSEY POLICE DEPARTMENT.
