Corrective pruning

Total 2

While the bulk of the project "cost" is borne by MnDOT or is in the form of Staff hours,
there is a cash component associated with the entrance signs landscaping. This is because
the sign is not within MnDOTs right-of-way. The budget detail prepared by MnDOT is
quite thorough but it contains the aforementioned materials for the #47 and #116
intersection. Without that, the City's cost share will be $919.15. Tuesday, December 7,
1993, I laid out the entry landscaping and project for an associate of The Links at
Northfork. The purpose was to request 50 percent ($460) of the cash cost for the entrance
sign and for the golf course to provide me a number of their agile workers for the
Partnership Day. The golf course, in my opinion, should have an interest in landscaping
the sign. Plus, there may be an opportunity for their "lead" person to receive six hours of
MnDOT landscape training prior to the Partnership Day. We're awaiting their reply.

The following miscellaneous details are related to this case or the project:

May 28, 1994, is proposed as Partnership Day. This allows for an Arbor
Exposition Day of Saturday, April 30, I994 and avoids both Mother's Day and the
opening of fishing, as it relates to volunteer availability.

This project and its community development aspects would be promoted at the
Expo to garner volunteers.

Signs will be placed by MnDOT so that the public is apprised of the effort during
the period the prairie/wildflowers are reaching maturity and may not be
distinguishable from "weeds".

The Links at Northfork maintenance building is in the immediate proximity of the
entrance sign, making it's maintenance simple, if they choose to participate.

Staff is comfortable that this project's hour commitments can be absorbed in the
workplan for 1994.

This project is being reviewed by the Citizen's Green Tree Committee for their
possible involvement.

Enclosures:

Community Roadside Landscaping Partnership Program Applications

March 17, 1993 Letter to Scott Bradley, MnDOT's Landscape Unit Chief initiating
the process

Proposal disseminated to The Links At Northfork

Entrance sign rendering prepared and disseminated to The Links at Nonhfork.

Enclosed under separate cover (due to photocopying requirements):

Ramsey/MnDOT West Highway Landscape Plan superimposed on Highway #10
aerial photos.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
