The Commission reviewed the proposed conditional use permit and considered <br />amending it to restrict the garage height to 16 feet. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the option for Mr. Erikson to subdivide his <br />property between the home and the new garage; the lot containing the home <br />would continue to be zoned B-1 but be regulated by it's principal use, <br />Residential; the lot containing the garage would retain the B-1 zoning and <br />the garage would not have to be reduced in height. <br /> <br />Mr. Erikson requested that the Commission table action on his request for a <br />conditional use permit to allow him more time to study options available to <br />him. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner LaDue and seconded by Commissioner Holm that upon <br />request of the applicant, action on Mr. Jeff Erikson's request for a <br />conditional use permit is tabled. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Commissioners Howell and Shumway were opposed to <br />tabling and prolonging the case. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holm withdrew his second to table Mr. Erikson's case. <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman seconded the motion to table Mr. Erikson's case. <br /> <br />Amendment by Commissioner Howell and seconded by Commissioner Holm to <br />request that the City Attorney submit a written opinion regarding Mr. <br />Erikson's situation. <br /> <br />Amendment carried. Absent: <br />Commissioner Hendriksen. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman noted that the City approved the attendance of two <br />Planning commissioners at the advanced planning institute in Rochester the <br />week of March 21. Commissioners Howell and Shun~ay were elected to attend <br />the seminar. <br /> <br />Case #10: Discussion Regarding Trails And Park Dedication: <br /> <br />Commissioner Shumway recalled that per the Planning Commission's request, <br />the Park Commission has reviewed park dedication requirements. In order to <br />acquire only the amount of land necessary from the developer for park <br />dedication and not forfeit any cash that would have been due the City and <br />in order to not delay plats currently before the city, the Park Commission <br />is requesting that Planning and Zoning support their recommendation that <br />City Council adopt an emergencyordinance to allow the city the ability to <br />require a combination of land and fee in lieu of the maximum amount of land <br />Planning and Zoning Commission/March 17, 1988 <br /> <br />Page7 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
