Park and Recreation Commission (Canceled) <br />• The Regular June Park and Recreation Commission Meeting has been canceled due to no <br />items requiring Commission action. <br />Bark For Life at The Draw, Sat. June 6th. Bark For Life adds a new twist to American Cancer <br />Society's Relay For Life serving as a fundraising activity to honor the caregiving qualities of canine <br />companions while supporting the American Cancer Society mission. Bring your canine friend(s) <br />to The Draw located within The COR at Ramsey on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 am for a fun - <br />filled morning starting with a one mile (non-competitive) walk and continuing with games, , <br />demonstrations and vendors. Attached to this Weekly Update is a Bark for Life Event Flyer. <br />Council Update <br />Quiet Zone for Alpine Drive implementation date change. City staff was recently notified by <br />the Department of Transportation that the quiet zone designation will now be established for June <br />20, 2015 (note: this date was pushed back from the previous date which was anticipated to be June <br />9). <br />Channel 5 Eyewitness News Features Story on Hwy 10 Access Planning Study. Ramsey City <br />Administrator Kurt Ulrich was featured in an interview conducted by Channel 5 Eyewitness News <br />on Tuesday, June 2nd regarding the Highway 10 Access Planning Study and Ramsey's efforts to <br />improve traffic flow and safety on Highway 10 by initiating a series of smaller construction <br />projects designed to achieve 90% of the benefits of a freeway at nearly half the cost. <br />The complete interview can be found on the Channel 5 Eyewitness News website at <br />http://kstp.com/article/stories/s3814639.shtml. Attached to this Weekly Update is a copy of the <br />article "Officials: Hwy 10 Study Shows Traffic Flow, Safety can be Improved at Lower Cost" <br />Tree Clearing Begins in Country Club Hills. Tree clearing began today, June 4, in Country Club <br />Hills (east side of Variolite Street and 161' Avenue). There is a significant amount of tree removal <br />that is occurring with this project. However, the approved tree preservation plan includes multiple <br />'tree save areas' as well as an increased planting schedule (four [4] trees per lot instead of the <br />normally required two [2] trees per lot). In addition, much of the tree removal will be used for the <br />creation of lumber and landscape woodchips. Only a small amount (grinding of stumps) will not <br />be re -purposed. <br />Just a reminder that Safety Camp is around the corner! Camp is June 16 -17 from 7:45 a.m. <br />— 4:30 p.m. at Lord of Life Church. Camp is completely full and we are looking forward to another <br />fun year! Council is welcome to stop by to visit during camp hours. If planning to do so around <br />the lunch time, please let Chandra Kreyer know in advance so plenty is available.
