Comparison Overview
Fire Station #1 and Fire Station #2

STAFF COMMENTS:

SIMILARITIES
Both will have the ability to act independently in the event of an emergency.

Both will include the following general components:

Fire Engine

o
Tanker/Tender Truck

o
Grass Truck

o
Rescue Truck

o
Hose Tower

o
The purpose of a hose tower is to allow space for equipment (mainly fire hoses) to properly dry out after use. Not
properly drying hoses causes mold build up and faster decay of hose cloth. Not having a hose tower at each location will
result in higher personnel costs and operational inefficiencies (in comparison to having separate towers). Hose towers
are standard for all modern fire department facilities.

DIFFERENCES
Fire Station #1

Designed as center point of all Fire Department operations and training (for all three stations)

o
Includes a large training space/conference room and a large/full sized kitchen

o
Includes significant office space for Fire Chief, Marshal and future staff.

o
Includes a water rescue unit/boat.

o
Includes 2 full bays.

o

Fire Station #2

Not designed as center point of all Fire Department operations and training.

o
Includes a satellite police office and garage stall for a squad car (reduce PD response times).

o
Includes a satellite Allina ambulance garage stall (reduce response times).

o
Small kitchen, small training room, small office space.

o
Includes ladder truck.

o
Includes 3 full bays.

o

BKV COMMENTS:
