To whom it may concern,
My name is Tim Hoffman, I am the Champion of the Heart Safe -Ramsey program, which many
of you know and support. It is our mission to increase survival rates of SCA (sudden cardiac
arrest) by educating the public in quality CPR and proper use of an AED. We also want to help
ensure proper coverage of public access defibrillators in our City. From the time we first
launched this program, it has been a goal to obtain an AED for the newly constructed
Community Building at Elmcrest Park. This is a vital location as it is used by our local soccer club
(Northern Lights Soccer). We have been working with members of the ARAA and NLS board to
get as many players, coaches and their families trained in bystander CPR and AED use. The
process has been slow but is beginning to gain traction.
Thanks to donations from The Ramsey Rotary and The Lions Club, we have been able to buy
equipment and supplies to support our mission. We have already set aside $500 towards the
Elmcrest AED. However, we still need approximately $1100 to complete this purchase. We
were hoping that the funds raised from the charitable gambling money could be utilized for this
purpose.
Our hope is that the City of Ramsey can celebrate its Heart Safe designation by donating the
AED during an event at Elmcrest Park featuring the members of the City Council, The Lions, The
Rotary, NLS and ARAA. We can arrange for press coverage and would also invite anyone who
wants to attend, encouraging Ramsey businesses and organizations to become "Heart Safe" as
well. Our goal is to obtain the official Heart Safe designation (by Allina and AHA standards) by
July 1, 2015.
Please consider this request and let us know if you need any additional information or
assistance.
Thank you for your time!
Tim Hoffman
Champion of Heart Safe -Ramsey
Board member of The City of Ramsey Foundation (501c3 nonprofit)
Member of Coon Rapids Heart Safe and The MN SCA Survivors Network
Email: savedbycpr33Hotmail.com
Phone: 763.438.2416
Website: www.cityoframsey.com/heartsafe
Like us on Facebook: Heart Safe -Ramsey
