Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION # 2015-05-123 <br /> RESOLUTION TO HIRE PAID-ON-CALL FIREFIGHTERS <br />WHEREAS <br />, over the course of 2014 - 2015 there have been several Paid-on-call Firefighters <br />that have separated from the Fire Department due to retirements and other reasons; and <br />WHEREAS <br />, staffing levels in the Fire Department were less full capacity in all three fire <br />stations; and <br />WHEREAS <br />, a firefighter orientation meeting was held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 <br />followed by interviews, background checks, reference checks, physical agility tests, work-style <br />assessments, and pre-employment physicals and drug screens; and <br />WHEREAS <br />, eight candidates have successfully passed the requirements to become a city of <br />Ramsey Paid-on-call Firefighter; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />eligiblecandidates will be subject to a 1-year probationary period; and <br />Tyler Burshem, Nicholas Kintigh, Thomas Lyon, Jr., Michael Rouse, Jeremy Strecker, Kelly <br />Sinton, Jason Sufka, and Matthew Tjosaas as Paid-on-call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective <br />May 13, 2015. <br />WHEREAS <br />, the funding to hire the above mentioned firefighters is included in the 2015 <br />budget and per the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Nowthen, the City will be reimbursed <br />for a portion of the salaries for these positions <br />WHERAS <br />, in addition, the grant through the Anoka County Recruitment and Retention <br />program will reimburse the City for a portion of the pre-employment testing costs once the new <br />firefighters are certified at the Firefighter II level. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, <br />Motion to approve resolution #15-05-123, Tyler Burshem, Nicholas Kintigh, Thomas Lyon, <br />Jr., Michael Rouse, Jeremy Strecker, Kelly Sinton, Jason Sufka, and Matthew Tjosaas as Paid- <br />on-call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective May 13, 2015. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this <br />th <br />the 12 day of May 2015. <br /> <br />
