Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION # 2015-05-123 RESOLUTION TO HIRE PAID-ON-CALL FIREFIGHTERS WHEREAS , over the course of 2014 - 2015 there have been several Paid-on-call Firefighters that have separated from the Fire Department due to retirements and other reasons; and WHEREAS , staffing levels in the Fire Department were less full capacity in all three fire stations; and WHEREAS , a firefighter orientation meeting was held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 followed by interviews, background checks, reference checks, physical agility tests, work-style assessments, and pre-employment physicals and drug screens; and WHEREAS , eight candidates have successfully passed the requirements to become a city of Ramsey Paid-on-call Firefighter; and WHEREAS, eligiblecandidates will be subject to a 1-year probationary period; and Tyler Burshem, Nicholas Kintigh, Thomas Lyon, Jr., Michael Rouse, Jeremy Strecker, Kelly Sinton, Jason Sufka, and Matthew Tjosaas as Paid-on-call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective May 13, 2015. WHEREAS , the funding to hire the above mentioned firefighters is included in the 2015 budget and per the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Nowthen, the City will be reimbursed for a portion of the salaries for these positions WHERAS , in addition, the grant through the Anoka County Recruitment and Retention program will reimburse the City for a portion of the pre-employment testing costs once the new firefighters are certified at the Firefighter II level. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, Motion to approve resolution #15-05-123, Tyler Burshem, Nicholas Kintigh, Thomas Lyon, Jr., Michael Rouse, Jeremy Strecker, Kelly Sinton, Jason Sufka, and Matthew Tjosaas as Paid- on-call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective May 13, 2015. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this th the 12 day of May 2015.
