A busy week in Washington, D.C. as Ramsey City Officials
advocate for safety and mobility improvements for the U.S. Highway 10 corridor and the rail
crossings in Ramsey. The Armstrong Interchange is now under construction, and represents the
start of the future upgrades that will improve Highway 10 to a freeway. Thanks to Senator
Klobuchar, Senator Franken, Representative Emmer, and Representative Nolan for keeping this
important transportation project a priority. For many years,
residents near Elmcrest have requested a playground for the park. It was gratifying this week to
receive an e-mail complimenting the City on the general maintenance there, and how much the
woman and her family appreciated the trails. The second part of her communique was a very
gracious request that the City consider a playground for the park at some time in the future. Staff
was able to respond that landscape elements were being installed at the present, and the play
structure construction is to begin within two weeks. The woman replied with: "That is great
news! Now Iwill have someplace close by to take my grandson ". The quarried stones were set in
place on Wednesday, and were carefully selected to `compliment' the color and aesthetic of the
adjacent stone fireplace. In the image (attached) the stone is set in the parking area prior to
installation. Trees were also planted there to shade the playground—what species? Elms of
course, in a complimentary nod to the park's namesake!
