Mr. George Orning brought up the trail system. Chairman Donovan said trails
were very lacking in the city at this time. Mr. Orning said it was a definite
possibility and presented some possible plans. A discussion followed in which
Mr. Orning explained where the trail system would begin and in doing so
hopefully promote further interest from others to continue the development of
a trail system. Chairman Donovan asked what the trails would be used for and
George said they would discourage motorized vehicles but rather, hiking and
bike trails for the community. Chairman Donovan asked if trails around the
lake were being considered and Mr, Orning said not really sure at this time.

Chairman Donovan also asked about horse trails and possible public use. Mr.
Orning said this was not impossible but it did present a rather large problem
however they are willing to consider it.

In summary Northfork Development would consider trails for Cross Country Skiing,
hiking and biking and possibly equestrian but they were firm on Lake Itasca
remaining closed to the public. A discussion followed with the commissioners
taking a vote on public access to the lake. All,voted in fa~o~ of~leaving
the lake private. Also agreed to meet agamn as ~evelopment continued and
to have better communications in the future. Board agreed to a meeting in
the Spring with the developers at the development.

RAMSEY TRAIL SYSTEM

The trail from Ramsey School to Ramsey Terrace Park was discussed. Chairman
Donovan said he has researched information but was unable to turn up much
information. He asked if there would be interest in renewing the plans. The
Commission agreed the trail should be developed but decided to table for a
future meeting.

LAWCON/LCMR GRANT

Council Member Arnie Cox presented his ideas for development of Riverbend Park
Commission agreed they were good ideas and within the guidelines of the Grant.
They also suggested the Ramsey School/Ramsey Terrace Park trail, along with the
Fordbrook Trail also be included in grant application. Preliminary application
due in May of 1986.

CAPITAL IM]PROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR PARK FUNDS

Chairman Donovan felt the funds indicated were not entirely accurate. It
appears the only things to be completed in 86 are the bleachers and the
lighting system for Central Park. He felt some changes were necessary.
Money would be needed to develop the trail system. Chairman Donovan said
he could contact the DNR to get ideas for trail systems. It was also suggested
that the Commission follow up on a suggestion in an earlier meeting by Claudia
Dodge that some outside help be sought for future park development.

Meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
