LETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Commission noted the following:

1) Letter from Mr. David L. Torkildson regarding leaf composting.

PARK COMMISSION BUSINESS

Chairman Donovan stated that the 1984 Park Budget does have $6,000 set aside
for bleachers but this money could be used towards other facilities at
Central Park.

Discussion ensued regarding other areas in which this $6,000 could be used
at Central Park.

Commissioner Lichter stated that the swailing in the area of tWo of the
softball fields leaves those fields unuseable for soccer and football.
Commissioner Lichter suggested that the money be used for installation of
field tiles to correct the drainage problem and make the fields useable
year around.

Commission consensus is to have Merle Mevisson research the amount of funds
necessary to do the following, using CETA labor wherever possible:

1. Correct swail.

2. Construct volleyball court of sand.

3. Construct horseshoe pits of sand.

4. Install bike rack.

5. Construct a bike path along Cty. Rd. ~83 and 161st.

6. Construct some picnic tables.

7. Construct a couple of grills.

8. Rd. #83.

Discussion ensued regarding the building RYAA would like to construct at
Central Park and the consensus was that RYAA should present their plans to
the Park Commission.

Consensus was that the creative play area at Central Park deserves some
attention, possibly next year.

Case #2: Review And Discuss May 8, 1984 Workshop Minutes:

Chairman Donovan reviewed workshop minutes dated May 8, 1984, particularly
pages 7 and 8, with the Commission.

Case #3: LAWCON Grant Application:

Commission reviewed the application and related materials found in agenda.

P & R/May 23, 1984
