Fees: Adult programming <br /> <br />The value of having a Parks & RecreationDirector was stressed. Th~ cost of <br />the position more than justified by output in terms of better park dedications <br />grant development, etc. Cost of such a position would be 419,000 including <br />fringe benefits and overhead. <br /> <br />The value of having a city councilman and city administrator attend Park <br />Commission meetings was also stressed. <br /> <br />It was agreed to invite the City Administrator to the next meeting to assist <br />~n the prep~ratloh of 1979 Parks ~'RecreatiOnBudge~'Request. Acting Chair~- <br />man to extend the invitation. <br /> <br />4. Park Fee (referal from Planning and Zoning) <br /> <br /> The Planning & Zoning Commission asked this Commission to review its <br />Park Dedication Policy. The commission reviewed the Park Dedication Policy <br />and found it comparable to most other suburban communities and reasonable. <br />Most communities ask"at least 10%, some ask 15%. Others have mb-~ ~x <br />formulae which result in dedication or "money in lieu of dedication' that <br />is equivalent to the 10 to 18% range. Many communities will' only accept <br />land that can be used for park purposed, otherwise money in lieu is requiredi: <br /> <br /> It was moved to notify the Pla.nning and Zoning Commission that the <br />Park Dedication Policy was revieWed and determined to be comparable and <br />r~ason~bie. Coordination with Planning and Zoning. <br /> <br /> Communication was received from City Attorney advising us that Prelim- <br />inary Subdivision Plans would be submitted to this commission for its <br />review before being submitted to City Council for their approval. It was <br />felt that this commission should become involved in a subdivision appli- <br />cation at the "sketch plan" stage as a convience to the developer. It was <br />agreed to ask the Planning & Zoning Commission to forward subdivision, <br />applicati'ons to the Parks & Recreation Co.~nission'at the "sketch plan' <br />stage. Motion carried by consensus. <br /> <br />6. Stump removal in Brookview Park. <br /> <br /> The cost for removing stumps from Brookview Park is estimated to be <br />$245. It was moved to recommend that City. Council authorize the removal <br />of stumps from Brookview Park. ~ved by J. Zobava, Seconded by K. Wotter. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />7. LAt'/CON Grant Application. <br /> <br /> Three LAWCON grant applications prepared by the Capitol Improvements <br />SubcOmmittee, were reviewed. The applications were as follows: <br /> (1) Development of Titterud Park. $60,000 total (local cost $15,000) <br /> For site preparation, landscaping, tennis court, playground and <br /> picnic area. <br /> (2) Acquistion of land to expand Woodland green Neighborhood Park. <br /> <br /> <br />
