Park and Rec 4/24/78
Page 2

6) Obtain and install 3 backstops as soon as possible - $3,297.

7) Obtain and install 1,000 cu. yards black dirt after 9-15-78 -
$4,500

8) Obtain and install 4 players benches using two existing benches
for the third field after 9-15-78 - $252.

10) Obtain and install fertilizer and seed for 18,000 sq. yards after
9-15-78 - cost unknown

The total of the above is $18,789 plus the unknown which we estimated
at about $2,500 would give a total of $21,300.

The Commission would like to see the bike racks, portable bleachers and
a storage shed but felt these items would not be installed until next
spring anyway and perhaps would or'could be provided from a civic or
community group. We would like to investigate the possibility of using
the warming house at the hockey rink for baseball storage.

The water supply for grass areas we anticipate initially or temporarily
coming from the school water supply.

The toilet facility will have to be investigated further. It does appear
to be a necessity by the completion of the project. Whether rented
satellites will satisfy this need we will continue to study. Any sug-
gestions or recommendations from the engineer at the time of his study
are welcomed. We have not planned or included a parking facility at
this time. It is felt the school has parking area available and the
wiseness of close proximity of present playground to auto traffic should
be studied further. Recommendations of the Council or the engineer would
be welcome.

A motion to accept the above recommendation was made by John Lichter,
seconded by Dennis Donovan and passed unanimously. Recommendation is to
be submitted to Council on April 25.

Mark Harris of the Boy Scouts appeared and asked for time regarding a
project at Brookview Park he would like to undertake, Dennis Donovan is
to meet with Mark at the site to go over his plans and report back to
Commission when the Commission tours the site on May 6, 1978. Commission
will then make recommendation to Council so Mark can be started by
June 15, 1978.

Bob Walz made motion to adjourn, second by Kevin Walter. Meeting adjourned
at 7:45 P.M.

Respectful ly submitted
