Chairman Jensen explained that the Commission would prepare a recommendation and submit it to the Council for their consideration. Chairman Jensen thanked all the candidates for expressing their interest in the Com- mission. He urged all of the candidates to remain active in the com- munity park system. The Planning and Zoning Commission invited Park and Recreation Commission members to attend their special meeting and discuss the proposed Trap Rock Park at Varolite Street and 157th Avenue. The Park and Recreation Commission meeting was recessed~ Members listed and informally agreed with the park as noted in the attached drawing dated March 12, 1978. The meeting was recalled. Dennis Donovan obtained copies of the Anoka, 1977 Park and Recreation Department Annual Report. Copies were dis- tributed to Commission members for their review. Following up on a request by the City's maintenance personnel regarding small park projects; the Commission members suggested that tasteful wooden signs posted on park lands could be erected. The sign should identify the property by name. Discussions were held regarding a recommendation of new Commission mem- bers to the City Council. Applicants Kevin Wolter and Robert Walz were recommended by motion to the Council for appointment to the Park and Recreation Commission. The motion was made by John Lichter and seconded by Dennis Donovan. The recomm6nded applicants are well qualified to serve on the Commission and it was the opinion of present members that thes~ gentlemen would be extremely helpful in present areas of Park and Recreation Commission interest. Mr. Walz is the Budget Director' for Anoka County and Mr. Wolter is an insurance agent, with experience in the Anoka Community Schools program. It was the opinion of members present that these two applicants would also be:compatible with the makeup of the present Commission. Discussion followed regarding future activities. Items which were con- sidered included the Mississippi and Rum Rivers scenic river proposals, the possibility of establishing sub-committees and the preparation of a capital improvements plan. Dennis Donovan moved to adjourn the meeting. John Lichter seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
