Chairman <br />Jensen explained that the Commission would prepare a recommendation and <br />submit it to the Council for their consideration. Chairman Jensen <br />thanked all the candidates for expressing their interest in the Com- <br />mission. He urged all of the candidates to remain active in the com- <br />munity park system. <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission invited Park and Recreation Commission <br />members to attend their special meeting and discuss the proposed Trap <br />Rock Park at Varolite Street and 157th Avenue. The Park and Recreation <br />Commission meeting was recessed~ Members listed and informally agreed <br />with the park as noted in the attached drawing dated March 12, 1978. <br /> <br />The meeting was recalled. Dennis Donovan obtained copies of the Anoka, <br />1977 Park and Recreation Department Annual Report. Copies were dis- <br />tributed to Commission members for their review. <br /> <br />Following up on a request by the City's maintenance personnel regarding <br />small park projects; the Commission members suggested that tasteful <br />wooden signs posted on park lands could be erected. The sign should <br />identify the property by name. <br /> <br />Discussions were held regarding a recommendation of new Commission mem- <br />bers to the City Council. Applicants Kevin Wolter and Robert Walz were <br />recommended by motion to the Council for appointment to the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. The motion was made by John Lichter and <br />seconded by Dennis Donovan. The recomm6nded applicants are well <br />qualified to serve on the Commission and it was the opinion of present <br />members that thes~ gentlemen would be extremely helpful in present areas <br />of Park and Recreation Commission interest. Mr. Walz is the Budget Director' <br />for Anoka County and Mr. Wolter is an insurance agent, with experience in <br />the Anoka Community Schools program. It was the opinion of members <br />present that these two applicants would also be:compatible with the <br />makeup of the present Commission. <br /> <br />Discussion followed regarding future activities. Items which were con- <br />sidered included the Mississippi and Rum Rivers scenic river proposals, <br />the possibility of establishing sub-committees and the preparation of a <br />capital improvements plan. <br /> <br />Dennis Donovan moved to adjourn the meeting. John Lichter seconded. The <br />meeting was adjourned at 10:45 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
