Associate Planner Geisler replied staff will add this to the list of things being cleaned up in <br />Chapter 9. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated regarding decorative sidewalks with brick or stone, it has been <br />brought to her attention that colored cement can deteriorate in a relatively quick time. She does <br />not know if this is true, and would like staff to check into this. She noted they had discussed <br />using this type of concrete in Town Center. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated staff can look at other examples of installations <br />over the last five years. He noted staff had planned on bringing a discussion of trails and <br />sidewalks within Town Center to the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook stated when looking at crosswalks in Town Center the alternative is paint, <br />and they know paint deteriorates beyond recognition and is high maintenance. They have used <br />colored concrete where he works and it is a matter of what concrete they use, it is a lot different <br />now than what was used in the past. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson noted asphalt can have coloring and provide a unique <br />look. Staff will explore this to see if they would want to consider it for trails in Town Center. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested the option of paver stone walkways. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained staff has looked at paver brick installation <br />where it has not held up well under traffic conditions. <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook commented stamped concrete gives the appearance of pavers; however, <br />snow removal is sometimes difficult. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained regarding the townhouse setbacks, Town <br />Center setbacks are maximum rather than minimum. They will not be as far off of Ramsey <br />Boulevard as has been seen in the past. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to introduce the <br />proposed ordinance to amend Section 9.20.12 (R-2 Residential District) of City Code regarding <br />architectural standards for medium-density residential development. <br /> <br />Com~cihnember Pearson stated staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission did a good job on <br />this. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
