Updated Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP) <br />City of Ramsey, Minnesota <br />The Minnesota DNR maintains a database on all Minnesota lakes. Some of this <br />data is very limited or not available, while other lakes have been studied in great <br />detail. To find the most current data on the lakes in Ramsey, access the Lake <br />Finder on the DNR Website. <br />The WMO document has a list of monitoring locations. The Anoka Conservation <br />District (ACD) has water quality information. The ACD has also published a <br />water atlas. <br />6. Water Appropriations <br />Upon approval by all of the review authorities, the City's approved Wellhead <br />Protection Plan will be incorporated into this plan by reference. At present, the <br />draft includes all of the current municipal ground water appropriations. The City <br />is considering obtaining surface water appropriations from the Mississippi River <br />for a 20 MGD water treatment plant. The scope of the project will require <br />Regional Participation. The City is working with the Metropolitan Council and <br />other regional partners to explore a regional funding solution to locally operated <br />surface water supply treatment plant. The water treatment plant is intended to <br />supply water for the anticipated population growth of the City. When the new <br />water treatment plant is approved and constructed, the existing City wells and <br />permitted groundwater appropriations are planned to remain unchanged to be <br />readily available as backup for water needs. <br />7. Soil Data <br />Ramsey City Code, Section 117-424 covers types of soil that are adequate for <br />septic systems. According to Ramsey City Code, the City adopts the Anoka <br />County Soil Survey, 1977 (Soil Survey) and supplemental operational soil <br />surveys as its official soil survey and makes it a part of the City Code. The <br />Anoka County soil survey map of the Ramsey area is attached as Figure 25. In <br />general, the City of Ramsey has soils in SCS Hydrologic Soil Type A.
