Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br />Meeting Date: 08/13/2015 <br />Submitted For: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services <br />By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services <br />4. 3. <br />Title: <br />Consider Supporting 1st Annual Anoka County Broker/ Developer Event <br />Purpose/Background: <br />PURPOSE: <br />Consider participation in a new event: 1st Annual Anoka County Broker/Developer Networking Event, Tuesday, <br />October 27, 2015, 9-11 a.m. Staff is asking for EDA support to participate in this event. <br />What is the purpose of the event? <br />Anoka County staff, Anoka cities staff, and Great MSP staff have identified an opportunity for the north metro to <br />improve their image/ reputation in terms of economic development. The purpose of this event is to get the "Anoka" <br />name out in the development world, improve the perception of the north metro, and establish relationships. <br />Anoka County and Greater MSP are "overseeing" this event. However, the Cities of Ramsey, Anoka, and Coon <br />Rapids are also leading this effort (in terms of planning). <br />What is the agenda? <br />The event will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Bunker Lake Golf Club. The event will <br />include door prizes, speakers, continuing education credits for real estate, and exhibits from Cities. The theme of <br />the event is "Getting Deals Done" and will emphasize tools and resources to assist developers/ brokers in closing <br />deals. The final details are currently being worked out, including the formal invite and materials. <br />What does City participation include? <br />- -staff attending event (potentially speak, set-up and man exhibitor booth) <br />- -staff purchase give-aways for the City's booth <br />- -staff put together updated materials <br />- -staff assist with sending out invites <br />- -EDA members would be welcomed to attend, if desired <br />- -budget not to exceed $2,500 (EDA Miscellaneous Professional Services) <br />Notification: <br />NA <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />NA <br />Funding Source: <br />Please see background. <br />
