SPECIAL MEETING OF RAMSEY TO~ BOARD
Sept. 30, 197&

The meeting was called to order at noon by the Chairman, Mr. Cox.
Present were Mr. Hopperstad, Mrs. Oliphant and Mr. Reimann.

Discussion on the 4,150 feet of the westerly boundary between
Elk River Township and Ramsey Township known as Jarvis Street.
We have been contacted by Mr. Frank Matson, Chairman of the Elk
River Township regarding sharing in the cost of blacktopping
this street. This issue is approximately two years old as they
have discussed this matter with Ramsey Township prior to this
time. We would share in half of a 22 foot top surface. Elk River
Township has a bid from the Elk River Blacktop Plant of $5,~39.91
as half the cost or our share. He indicated also that H & S had
submitted a slightly lower bid but he did not have the bid with
him. This meeting was called at this time due to the weather con-
ditions and they urgently request us to make a decision as they
are ready with their equipment on their portion of the roads in
this area. Elk River Township has been maintaining this road and
we paid them $80 for several years maintenance. Of course, we
could not do this maintenance for this cost ourselves. Mr. Rei-
mann moved we check on the price and if it seems correct that we
go ahead and work with Elk River Township on this road because he
feels it will be a benefit to us in the future and we could not
possibly build this road for this price in the future. Seconded
by Mr. Hopperstad. Motion carried by Mr. Reimann, Mrs. Oliphant
and Mr. Hopperstad. Mr. Cox was opposed.

It is felt that we will avoid inflated costs by this action, that
we will have the cooperation of Elk River Township in the mainten-
ance of these roads and other future roads bordering the two com-
munities; that to maintain this road by ourselves would be very
expensive; the Elk River school buses which carry some of Ramsey
Township d~will be using these roads; we will have more of our
residents using this road in the future; and it is a good thing to
have the good will and cooperation of this neighboring community.

We will info~a Mr. Matson of this decision.

Mrs. Oliphant moved we adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Mr. Hop-
perstad. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
