SPECZAL MEETYNG OF R~]~SEY TO~fN BOARD

August 31, 1973

Discussion on calling the Great Northern Railroad to see if we
can get about 500 ties from ~ foot to 10 foot sizes. We need
these for our parks and for shoring up ditches, etc.

We shall call the Anoka County Union to see if we can get a paper
sent to this office on a complimentary basis.

The meeting was called to order at 12:20 by the Chairman, Mr.
Murphy. Present were Mr. Cox and Mr. Hopperstad.

Discussion on the upcoming school bond election. The new state
law permits registration of voters the day of election but not for
twenty days before the day of election. The new school up on No.
5 should be open next fall. There is also room on the new school
site for a new junior high school.

We will have a dog clinic here at the To~n Hall on

We will notify the people about the new resolution on Dutch Elm
disease and oak wilt disease.

Incorporation: The City ofty~noka has passed a resolution to an-
nex a large portion of the~ast part of Ramsey which would encom-
pass the landfill and the 'Ramsey Tov~ hall and also a large healthy
portion of our industrial and commercial property. We lost con-
siderable sums of money for road construction due to the delaying
of our incorporation. Ramsey's first hearing for incorporation
before the I~C was September 5, 1972. Because of the challenges by
the City of Anoka the ~C has delayed giving Ramsey Township
village status. Ramsey officials have continually requested a
hearing to determine Ramsey's governmental status. People who own
land in the area which Anoka wants to annex may wish to get more
facts as to what would happen to their taxes and investigate this
more thoroughly. It might be well for our citizens to know that
for a house which is valued at $25,000, Ramsey Township gets $27.60.

Comparable taxes:

Grow Twp. $555.88 == Ramsey Twp. $553.67 ==
Burns Twp. $552.02 = City of Anoka $69~.03

Parks: Brookview is set up with tables, swings, and charcoal bur-
ners. We are also trying to get some of our ponds and small lakes
ready for winter skating. If anyone has or knows of anyone who
has a cat or bulldozer, drag line or blade who would like to give
us some help with levelling in some of our parks or if they know
of someone who would do this for a reasonable fee, please put in a
bid or let us know about it.

We would like to let our citizens know that we are aware that we
have some trouble spots on our roads but we also have some 90 miles
of roads and with our limited budget we are doing the best we can
