CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 09/08/2015 <br />By: Tim Gladhill, Community Development <br />4. 6. <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #15-069-222 to Hire Temporary Housing Intern <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire an intern to work in the Community Development Public <br />Safety Departments as a Housing Intern. <br />The process to fill these positions includes an open competitive recruitment process, interviews, background checks, <br />pre-employment testing, City Council approval to hire and on -boarding. <br />As a result, staff selected a qualified student intern/recent graduates candidate looking for experience. The <br />candidate has passed the pre-employment screenings and staff recommends hiring the selected candidate. <br />Notification: <br />NA <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Option #1 To hire the selected 2015 Temporary Housing Intern <br />Option #2: Not moving ahead with hiring the Temporary Housing Intern. Staff does not recommend this option due <br />to the much needed support provided by the temporary Interns in the Community Development and Public Safety <br />Departments. Additionally, this intern will provide key support in the following broad categories: <br />1. Review effectiveness of the City's current Rental Licensing Program and Code Enforcement Program related <br />to housing developments. <br />2. Updates to the Comprehensive Plan/Housing Chapter. <br />3. Assist with daily administrative tasks in the Community Development Department due to high seasonal <br />workload. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required to fill these positions is included within the approved 2015 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends option #1 above, hiring the following 2015 Temporary Housing Intern: <br />A. Housing Intern: Michael Healy at $12.00 per hour effective on or near September 9, 2015 <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #15-09-222to hire the following employees: <br />A.
