The Proposed Environmental Protection Ordinance For The Mississippi River, Also Known as, The Critical Rivers Ordinance, and Approximately 100 Acres Belonging to Dorothy H. Hansen, My Mother, In Sections 28 and 33 on The Mississippi River Gentlemen: It was suggested by City Officials that the preferable method of pre- senting my ideas, on this proposed ordinance, was to put them in the form of a letter for you and from which I might speak at your hearing. As you will discover from the attached maps, my mother owns a sizable acreage within the Critical Area and about a half mile of river frontage. She has been an owner of this land since about 1941 and my father, Dr. Miles Martin, in his desire to provide for orderly devel- opment in Ramsey, served as the first Ramsey Zoning Chairman. We are in agreement with the ~ntent of your ordinance which is stated ias fo]lows: ". . . to prevent and mitigage irreversible damage to these natural resources and to preserve and en- hance their values to the public." It, is our belief that if the beauty of the river is protected, the value of Mother's land will be protected.
