Due to the resignation of Senator Branden Petersen, there <br />is a vacancy in Senate District 35, which includes all of Ramsey. The special election has now <br />been scheduled and the dates are as follows: Filings open December 8 and close on December 14, <br />with withdrawal closing on December 15. Absentee voting for Special Primary begins on <br />December 18 and the Special Primary is scheduled for January 12. (The Primary is not held if <br />only one individual from each major party files.) Absentee voting for the Special General Election <br />begins on January 15, and the Special General Election is scheduled for February 9. As in a regular <br />election, the City will be open extra hours to accommodate absentee voting. Staff will be <br />contacting polling locations to reserve the dates as well as recruiting election judges. It should be <br />
