Councilwoman Oliphant wondered about Sue Thompson's review and <br />work product when she did work for the City. Councilman Gorham <br />stated that Arlene, the Administrative Secretary, felt Sue. <br />Thompson ~as qualified for the position as she had assisted Arlene <br />when Arlene took over her present job. <br /> <br />FIOTION: Councilman Gorham moved that Sue Thompson be hired as <br />additional secretarial help at the City Hall and that her employment <br />continue until December 1, 1976, or until such time as a ne~¢ <br />Administrative Assistant is hired and the City Council determines <br />that her employment should be terminated. Her employment will be <br />at a salary as indicated in the~rsonnel Committee's memo of August 31, <br />1976. Seconded by Councilman Reimann <br /> <br />Discussion - Councilwoman Otiphant questioned if the salary as <br />indicated in the memo was appropriate. Councilman Gotham stated it <br />was. All ayes, no nayes, motion carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Gotham stated that Tim Pacquette had received the bids <br />for a new warming house and that time for opening was no~ proper. <br />It was the consensus of the Council that no action should be taken <br />on the matter'at this time and that it would be placed on the <br />Council's agenda for September 13, 1976. <br /> <br />LANDFILL <br /> <br />Mayor Cox read a letter from Waste Management dated August 26, 1976. <br />That letter was from Donald Otter. Dick Sba presented a proposal <br />which the Anoka City Attorney, Weaver, had advised him of. This <br />consisted basically of a five-year lease of the landfill by Anoka <br />to Waste Management at the end of whid~ time the landfill property <br />would be reverted to the City of Ramsey. Also, the proposal would <br />include operating controls and a hold harml.ess agreement from Waste <br />~lanagement running both to the City of Ramsey and the City of Anoka. <br />~ayor Cox stated that both Waste Management and City of Anoka have <br />pushed Ramsey to the hilt. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilman Gorham moved that until the matters bet~een <br />Waste Management and the City of Anoka and Ramsey are satisfactorily <br />resolved and until a plan for continued operation is presented and <br />accepted by the City of Ramsey the City of Ramsey requests Anoka <br />County to not issue a new permit for operation of the landfill and <br />further requests the County to not extend the present permit and 'to <br />suspend the license until the matter is satisfactorily resolved. <br />That the City Attorney is directed to write the County advising <br />of this motion and that letter should make reference to Dick Sha's <br />memo of July 22, 1976. Seconded by Councilman Reimann~.
