Jeff Wise, Co-owner of Wiser Choice Liquor, stated he would like to follow up and make sure <br />the closing time is corrected. The mailing that was done stated closing would be at 8:00 p.m. <br />Monday through Thursday. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied that has been corrected. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Elvig, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Cook. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed at 7:42 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:42 p.m. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich indicated the penalties in the ordinance were recommended by the <br />League of Cities, and it is his assumption that many cities are using those penalties. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak asked Mr. Anderson what his policy is for checking identification at his <br />establishment. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson replied they are as strict as possible. Their policy is to card anyone that looks 35 <br />or younger.. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was that the penalties will remain as drafted. <br /> <br />Regarding the 10 a.m. serving time on Sundays, Councilmember Zimmerman stated since they <br />will be going to a 2 a.m. closing time they should give sofne consideration to a later serving time <br />on Sunday mornings. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, Pearson, Strommen, and Mayor Gamec expressed their <br />agreement with a 10 a.m. serving time on Sundays.. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman expressed his preference for a noon serving time on Sundays. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec indicated he has been informed by the golf course that once or twice per year there <br />is a wedding or a major tournament where they put up a tent in the parking lot. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich explained Section 7.51.12 states "The application shall specifically <br />describe the compact and contiguous premises within which liquor may be dispensed and <br />consumed.
