screening he would suggest a certain size and height so this does not turn into the whole lot. <br />There should be language that the City has the right to monitor some of this activity. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler indicated according to the fire code the Fire Inspector can enter the <br />property if they believe there are violations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig inquired if they will be able to get screening that is acceptable to the <br />zoning. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich suggested this be tabled and staff will come back with formal standards <br />for the screening, the escrow, and a time frame. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson questioned how many cars are on the site at one time. <br /> <br />Mr. Kryshrnaru replied they have a lot of cars they buy from auctions, and those cars may stay <br />longer. Usually there are 10 to 15 cars waiting for repair. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson questioned how many of the cars are inside. <br /> <br />Mr. Krystunaru replied one car is stored inside. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if there is a way of putting a cap on how many cars can be on the <br />property. <br /> <br />Conununity Development Director Frolik replied the size of the screened area would restrict that. <br />There is also a limit on the amount of outdoor storage allowed in an H-1 district. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated it needs to be clear that an absolute line is drawn. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen asked about mercury switches. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler replied the environmental concerns are related to the hazardous <br />generator waste license. This typically relates to materials like antifr'eeze and crank case oil. <br />Mercury switches were not specifically mentioned. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen questioned if land that is screened in would be allowable under the <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich replied the practical way of reading the ordinance relates to anything <br />stored in the open. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted the general consensus is to look at screening, to limit the number of <br />vehicles, to include an escrow fund, issuance of a random compliance, and a date of completion. <br /> <br />P90 <br /> <br />City Council/April 13, 2004 <br /> Page 20 of 33 <br /> <br /> <br />
