M E M 0 R A N D U M

Date: May 3, 2004

To:

Honorable Mayor and City Council

From:

Steven Jankowski, City Engineer

Re:

Drainage Improvement in Hunters Ridge

As an element of the 2004 annual street maintenance project the Hunters Ridge
development is scheduled to receive a seal coating. It has been poiated out by a
resident of that subdivision that there are two locations which have standing water for
long periods after rain and melt events. Staff has reviewed these areas and concurs that
drainage improvement should be made, since pavement deterioration is quite evident in
both these locations.

Staff has determined that both these locations can be drained effectively by the
installation of concrete curb and gutter and a cross street gutter. This same type of
improvement was very effective in eliminating similar problems being experienced in
the High Point subdivision during the 2001 Street Program.

Staff has received a quotation from North Country Concrete in the amount of $6,940 to
perform the necessary concrete work. The City's Public Works department would
perfmvn the necessary removals and restoration work associated with this improvement.
The cost for this work would be funded by the City's storm water utility.

Attached to this memorandum is a resolution authorizing this work with funding
provided by the storm water utility.
