The City has an ordinance prohibiting the cementing of the area between the <br />street and private driveways because if that area should ever have to be <br />torn up it would not be replaced in cement. <br /> <br />He also noted that City sewer and water will not occur in their area for many <br />Tears to come. He urged that people take care of their septic systems. <br /> <br />Mr. Ken Rung, 168th Avenue and Variolite Street asked about the per unit cost. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec explained that this is an estimated cost and if it comes in <br />25 percent over the estimated cost, another public hearing would have to <br />be held and the citizens would be notified over again. <br /> <br />A vote was taken of the persons present. There were 14 in favor and five against. <br /> <br />Four letters in favor of the project were received. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Mast, 17131 Willimite Street asked about an area that he noted which <br />wasn't included and another area on Lot .3, Block 3 which was included twice. <br /> <br />It was noted that this is a typographical error. <br /> <br />Mr. Mast asked who is bidding on the project. <br /> <br />~ayor Gamec explained that the feasibility study would go out to bid after <br />the hearing if the project is approved to proceed and that the bids would <br />come from all over. He noted that 90% of the projects have been awarded to <br />NDH, which ~s a local firm. <br /> <br />Mr. Mast asked what recourses there were on quality control. <br /> <br />Mayor Gsmec stated that the engineer checks the project. The City holds <br />a performance bond for one year after the completion of the project and if <br />there is any defect in the one year period it is repaired by the contractor <br />under warranty. <br /> <br />Mr. Gary Hunter, 169th and Zeolite asked about culverts, any provision made <br />to put in culverts where they are needed. <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka stated that this is generally the homeowner's responsibility. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec clarified that any place where the normal flow of drainage will <br />be interrupted it would be noted by the City Engineer. <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka added that if it is causing damage to the street he would <br />then order one to be installed and it would be assessed to the homeowner. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented regarding the matching of the driveways to the street. <br />The project will include the street matching driveways only if they are within <br />one foot of the street.
