Cou~cilmsnCox said we can get bags from the State Highway Department
for cleanup day.

Mayor Gamec requested the Building Official to provide a running total
of year to date building permits issued in his monthly report. Mr.
Berg said three building permits have been issued so far this year.

Mr. Lester Wirz, the City Assessor, said he feels a valve has gone out
of his staff car. Councilman Reimann asked if Lester couldn't get the
car fixed. It was agreed that the transmission line should be fixed
and report to the Council at its next meeting regarding the valves.

Administrator Schnelle pointed out his correction on the Unplatted
Hagen's Addition petition which is not in the agenda material on this
item.

COUNCIL OLD BUSINESS

STORM DRAINAGE ASSESSMENT RATE

The Council agreed to table this item until the first meeting in June,
1980.

COUNTRYSIDE ESTATES

Mayor Gamec said that during the drainage problems, Mr. Acres had con-
tacted him concerning a washout.

City Engineer Raatikka and Street Superintendent Mevissen have both
reviewed this problem. Mayor Gamec explained the problem and that possibly
the neighbors could be gotten together to explore the alternatives i.e.,
Class V or blacktopping of the streets.

Councilman Cox said in previous times we have gone in and put Class V in
an area without assessing. Mayor Gamec said we only have $7,800 in the
budget for this. Mayor Gamec said it would cost $28,000 to $30,000 to
put Class V on these roads. Councilman Sorteberg wondered if a report
from the Street Superintendent could be gotten to review alternatives.

Mayor Gamec asked Street Superintendent Mevissen what could be done
right now. Mr. Mevissen said that if we could purchase the outlot
there for drainage, this would help. He said right now there is a drain-
age problem.

Councilman Cox said perhaps we should explore purchasing the outlot
needed for drainage, as this will be needed whether we blacktop or not.
Ms. Rose Jacobsen said there is a grading problem and that in the spring
· the school bus won't even go down the road.

~@s. Jacobsen said if people are to get to work to pay taxes, the roads
must be repaired.

Mayor Gamec recommended a petition for blacktop and then a public hearing.
Councilman Sorteberg said the people present do not seem to be suggest-
ing blacktop, only better grading.

C/April 22, 1980
Page 5
