Mayor Gamec said the council is going to have to discuss this issue further.
Mr. Jeff Lamson, 4943 - 178th Lane N.W.

Mr. Larson asked how the roads are going to be taxed if they are upgraded.
Councilman Cox said there is no tax on roads.

Mayor Gamec said the only thing that happens is that the paved road improves
the value of the homes, but blacktopping doesn't affect the owner's taxes.
Normal maintenance is covered under General Maintenance Fund.

Mr. Easley asked when construction would start.

Mayor Gamec said construction would start approximately at the end of July
or the first of August, 1980.

Mr. Easley asked when the assessment would be added.

City Assessor Wirz said the assessment would be added the first of 1981.

Mr. William Gamble, 17911 Yakima Street

Mr. Gamble said he lives on the corner of Yakima and County Road #7.
He said he has been trying for the last several years to get the County to do
something about the traffic on County Road #7. He said his main concern
is that he lives right next to a stop sign where people move out
and peel rubber and he felt the County can't control the speeding. He said
he moved out to Ramsey thinking he was going to have peace and quiet, but
he is on a dragstrip instead. He wanted to know who the mysterious people
were who cut down his trees. Neither the city nor the County would admit to
cutting down the trees. He felt the city has been planning this project a
long time when they started cutting down the trees.

Ms. Mary Nelson, 4960 - 177th Lane N.W.

Ms. Nelson said she is concerned about all the wet land, ponds and lakes.
She asked if there has been any environmental impact studies on this project.

Mayor Gamec said he didn't think so, but it is one of the few things that
hasn't.

Mr. Easley noted there will be much more slip rate with blacktop than with
dirt roads as far as speeders are concerned.

Mayor Gamec said in regards to the speeding problem, residents should get
their license numbers and notify the police.

Ms. Judy Swanson,'4931 - 179th Avenue N.W.

Ms. Swanson said she is opposed to the project for a number of reasons.
She said she moved out to Ramsey for some peace and quiet and she felt
the race track atmosphere would be improved with the paving. She said
a car could run into children who can't be seen over the hills and curves.
She asked if snowmobiles were allowed to travel on tarvia.

Public Hearing
June 16, 1980
Page 3
