Zoning Bulletin April 25, 2015 1 Volume 9 1 Issue 8 <br />In its decision, the court emphasized that nothing in the decision should be <br />understood to prevent COAH from fulfilling its statutory mission to adopt <br />constitutional rules to govern municipalities' Third Round obligations in <br />compliance with the FHA. The court further emphasized that nothing in the <br />decision should be regarded as impeding the Legislature from considering <br />alternative statutory remedies to the present FHA. <br />Zoning News from Around the Nation <br />CONNECTICUT <br />Under a proposed bill, Governor Malloy proposes the creation of "a <br />new quasi[ -]public agency called the Connecticut Transit Corridor <br />Development Authority." The bill would give the Authority the power <br />to seize property within a half mile of transit stations, and opponents <br />reportedly fear it will give the Authority the power "to build whatever <br />it wants within a half -mile of any train or CTfastrak station with no lo- <br />cal participation or control." Meanwhile, Malloy spokesman Mark <br />Bergman has reportedly said that all projects on nonstate-owned land <br />would still remain subject to local zoning under the bill. <br />Source: CTNow; www.ctnow.com <br />FLORIDA <br />A state Senate committee has cleared a "broad package of school - <br />choice measures," which would "upend[] district zoning policies that <br />steer children toward their neighborhood schools . ."
